Belfast-based Phoenix Law has promoted immigration lawyer Sinead Marmion to partner.
Ms Marmion joined the firm in 2019 and heads its immigration and asylum department, acting in several high-profile and complex cases including the landmark challenge to the UK’s Rwanda policy and the Illegal Migration Act 2023.
“I am incredibly grateful to be promoted to partner in Phoenix Law,” Ms Marmion said.
“I have always been supported and encouraged by my colleagues to progress to this stage in my career. I hope now to pay forward the same support and encouragement to others at the beginning of their legal careers.
“I am dedicated to continuing in my journey as a human rights and immigration lawyer in providing representation to those who are marginalised and unable to assert their rights, especially in an increasingly hostile environment for rights.
“I want to thank my partners Peter, Claire, Darragh and Gavin, and all of my colleagues for their committed support since joining Phoenix Law. I am very proud of all of our hard work and commitment to justice.
“This partnership is a reflection of the extraordinary team that I am fortunate to work with.”
Partner Gavin Booth added: “Sinead’s promotion is richly deserved. Her professionalism, talent, and commitment embody the values of Phoenix Law.
“Sinead is widely recognised as Ireland’s leading immigration specialist.
“At a time when women continue to be under represented in our profession, we look forward to welcoming another formidable female to our partnership to drive the firm forward in the battles that lie ahead.
“The role of the lawyer has never been more vital, but equally it has never been more demanding. We are excited to have Sinead’s expertise onboard to assist in navigating Team Phoenix as it continues to grow and expand in an ever evolving legal environment.”
