The parade by Portadown District LOL No.1 will take place on Sunday 27 September. It will begin at Drumcree Church and conclude at Carlton Street Orange Hall proceeding down Drumcree Road and then onto the Garvaghy Road.

The parade is subject to conditions that; it will consist of no more than 35 persons, will display no flags or banners other than the banner of Portadown District LOL as it proceeds down the Garvaghy Road, shall be accompanied by no supporters and no bands will participate. The parade should commence no later than 8am and disperse from Carlton Street Orange Hall no later than 9.30am.

The Commission in its determination said: “The Commission understands the genuine hurt experienced by many residents of the Garvaghy Road. This decision is not, and should not be perceived, as a victory for one side or a loss for another. It is the outworking of the application of the legal framework to the facts available to the Commission.”

The parade’s notified purpose was in replacement for the notification the determination of which was quashed by the High Court in August having not been considered in its final form by all commissioners.

This determination is likely to face legal challenge from the Garvaghy Road Residents Coalition.
