Ulster University’s Centre for Legal Technology (CLT) has announced a new research and innovation partnership with Lawri AI, a Northern Ireland-based legal technology startup.
The collaboration, led by CLT’s director John Keers BL, will explore how AI and automation can improve the efficiency, accuracy, and accessibility of property transactions.
The partnership will focus on areas including legal data modelling, ethical AI deployment, and improved user experience.
It will also provide opportunities for student engagement, practitioner feedback, and cross-sector knowledge sharing.
Emma Fox, CEO of Lawri AI, said: “With more than two decades of legal practice experience in Northern Ireland, my brother and I created Lawri to bring practical, responsible innovation to the legal profession — starting with the residential conveyancing market.
“I’m delighted to be working with the University of Ulster’s Centre for Legal Technology whose support will help to refine and strengthen our product. Together, this pioneering collaboration will blend legal practice experience with academic expertise to shape a smarter, more reliable future for property transactions.”
Mr Keers added: “We are delighted to be working with Emma and the Lawri team on what is one of the most ambitious legaltech projects emerging from Northern Ireland.
“This collaboration is a great example of how universities can help accelerate responsible innovation and how local startups are stepping up to tackle long-standing challenges in the legal system.
“Together, we are reimagining what conveyancing could look like in a digital-first legal sector.”
