Mary Robinson will deliver the opening keynote address, with Miriam O’Callaghan moderating the evening. Professor Stuart Russell will also provide a video contribution.

Confirmed participants include Noeline Blackwell of the Children’s Rights Alliance, Professor Dave Lewis of Trinity College Dublin/ADAPT, Paul Byrne of Ireland’s AI Office, Professor Jennifer Edmond, Professor in Digital Humanities at Trinity College Dublin, Professor Edoardo Celeste of Dublin City University, and David Hickton, former U.S. Attorney and founding director of the University of Pittsburgh Institute for Cyber Law, Policy and Security.

The event will bring together voices from law, human rights, technology, regulation, academia and civil society to consider a fundamental question underlying current debates about AI governance: what, ultimately, are we trying to protect?

The discussion will examine the implications of increasingly AI-mediated societies for human dignity, autonomy, agency, fundamental rights and democratic participation, while also looking towards the practical legal, regulatory and policy responses that may be required.

The event is intentionally small although we are accepting a limited number of expressions of interest from people working in relevant fields.
