Former solicitor and Circuit Court judge, John F. Buckley, has passed away at his home.

Mr Buckley was a partner at Beauchamps Solicitors until his appointment to the Circuit Court bench in 1997. Recently, he had returned to Beauchamps to work as a consultant.

Stuart Gilhooly, president of the Law Society of Ireland, wrote on Twitter: “The solicitors’ profession has lost one of its most outstanding servants. A true legal legend.”

He is survived by wife Claire, children Orla, Niall and Aidan, respective spouses Gerry, Marion and Michelle, and seven grandchildren.
