IPLS team wins Northern Ireland heat of Client Consultation Competition

Anna Thompson and Katie Kennedy from the Institute of Professional Legal Studies (IPLS) have won the Northern Ireland regional heat of the 2024 Client Consultation Competition.

The pair, coached by Stuart Harper, went head-to-head with Erika Lim and Amy Hanna from Queen’s University Belfast, coached by Dr John Taggart, at Law Society House on Friday.

The topic the teams tackled was international humanitarian law, with a scenario drawn up by Colin Caughey from the Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission.

The judging panel was chaired by Niall Hargan of Carson McDowell and included Laura Dawson of the NIHRC, Joe McVeigh of KRW LAW and Joanna Tobolska-Walczuk of PR Hanna.

The winning IPLS team will receive a financial contribution from the Law Society of Northern Ireland towards their attendance at the 2024 International Client Consultation Competition in Lublin, Poland from 10-13 April 2024.

The competition will be hosted by the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin in partnership with Ukraine.
