UCD Law Review calls for submissions for Volume XXVI

UCD Law Review calls for submissions for Volume XXVI

The University College Dublin Law Review has launched a call for submissions for its upcoming Volume XXVI.

The student-run, peer-reviewed annual legal journal welcomes contributions on a broad range of contemporary legal issues, in particular articles pertaining to Irish and European law — though articles relating to wider concepts of international law are also welcomed.

A prize of €500 is customarily awarded to the author of the most outstanding article in each volume.

Articles are selected in line with the criteria of evaluation, which include its originality, topicality, strength of argument, and structure and style.

Submissions for the 26th volume should be submitted in Word format to ucdlawreviewsubmissions@ucd.ie, and should range between 5,000 and 10,000 words (excluding footnotes).

The early bird deadline is 13 February 2026, and articles submitted before this deadline can be accepted at an earlier point than usual.

The final deadline for submissions is 24 April 2026, though submissions beyond this deadline may be accepted where reasonable prior notice is given.

Book reviews of a maximum of 1,000 words (excluding footnotes) will also be considered for publication, where the book is recently published and written by an academic, practitioner or commentator who has expertise in legal matters.

As the selection process is entirely anonymous, there should not be any indications of identity in submitted articles or book reviews.

Further details, including information on submissions and the editorial process, may be found at www.theucdlawreview.com.

The UCD Law Review will consider publishing letters, short blog articles and case notes via its online companion publication, the Sutherland Symposium, available to view on the UCD Law Review website.

Pieces could address an evolving legal issue, a recently reported case or legislative development, or an area of the law considered to benefit from potential reform.

Letters should be addressed to the letters editor and all submissions should be sent to ucdlawreviewsubmissions@ucd.ie. All pieces should range between 1,000 and 2,000 words (excluding footnotes).

Hernan Perez-Mckay and Stephanie FitzPatrick, joint editors-in-chief of the UCD Law Review, said: “We look forward to reading your submissions. Thank you.”
