Mr Connolly was admitted to the roll of solicitors in Northern Ireland in 1981. He set up as a sole practitioner in Portadown in 1994 before retiring in 2010.

The Law Society of Northern Ireland said it “offers its deepest condolences to his family, colleagues and friends”.

Funeral arrangements are to be arranged and published.
