Mercy Law Resource Centre welcomes new solicitor

Kate Heffernan

Mercy Law Resource Centre (MLRC), which provides free legal advice and representation to people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, has welcomed Kate Heffernan as a solicitor.

Ms Heffernan was previously an associate in Arthur Cox’s litigation, dispute resolution and investigations department, working on proceedings and investigations focusing on the health care, professional services and financial sectors.

She obtained her LLB from Trinity College Dublin and was awarded a scholarship to complete her LLM at New York University (NYU).

Before training as a solicitor, Ms Heffernan worked as a judicial assistant in the High Court and also undertook a public interest law fellowship with FLAC in conjunction with the University of Washington.

During her time at NYU, she participated in a housing law externship, assisting the Legal Aid Society in the representation of tenants in New York City Housing Court.

She previously assisted with the work of Mercy Law Resource Centre both as a MLRC summer intern and later as a pro bono secondee from Arthur Cox.
