Paul Dornan takes leading role in Mercy Law Resource Centre

Paul Dornan has returned to Mercy Law Resource Centre (MLRC) as managing solicitor.
Mr Dornan previously spent four years as a solicitor with the independent law centre and charity, before taking up the role of community solicitor at Ballymun Community Law Centre.
He has also worked for the Legal Aid Board and in private practice and is experienced in advising and advocating in the areas of social housing and homelessness law as well as, employment, equality, family and childcare law.
In his role as managing solicitor, Mr Dornan will join solicitors Adam Boyle, Erika Hayes and Kate Heffernan and will take the lead on ensuring Mercy Law delivers a quality service to clients.
He will also provide law talks and legal training in the community.
MLRC provides free legal advice and representation for people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
The law centre recently published its 2024 annual report, recording a 15.5 per cent increase in demand for its services overall and a sharp 40 per cent increase in queries relating to emergency accommodation.
Edward Gleeson, chairperson of the MLRC board, said: “We are delighted to welcome Paul Dornan as our managing solicitor.
“He brings his experience in the area of homelessness and social housing law with a commitment to achieving social justice.”
Commenting on his appointment, Mr Dornan added: “I am honoured to have rejoined the team at Mercy Law Resource Centre.
“The centre has a real commitment to ensuring access to justice for those facing the huge pressure of homelessness.
“I join a team who are committed to achieving this and to working towards a future where every individual lives in dignity and enjoys equal rights, in particular, the right to a home.”
