Rebecca McKinney

Mercy Law Resource Centre has welcomed new legal secretary Rebecca McKinney to the team.

The independent law centre provides free legal advice to people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

Ms McKinney brings a wealth of experience within the legal and not-for-profit sectors in Ireland and in the Asia-Pacific region, having recently returned to Ireland from New Zealand and Australia, where she most recently worked as a paralegal within not-for-profit law in Melbourne.

She is a graduate of the international human rights law LLM at Queen’s University Belfast and the human rights BA at the Irish Centre for Human Rights at the University of Galway.

Ms McKinney said: “I am elated to join the Mercy Law team and look forward to contributing to the wider work of the organisation.

“In light of the ongoing housing crisis in Ireland, I am committed to making access to legal information, guidance and support for people experiencing homelessness or those who are at risk of homelessness welcoming, informative, and accessible.”

Dr Freda Grealey, managing solicitor at MLRC, said: “We are excited to welcome Rebecca to the Mercy Law team and in light of her experience we look forward to her positive contribution to the wider work of the organisation.

“With the ongoing housing crisis in Ireland, MLRC are committed to making access to legal information, guidance and support for people experiencing homelessness or those who are at risk of homelessness welcoming, informative, and accessible — Rebecca will add to this mission.”
