Memorial event to be held for Professor William Duncan

A memorial event for the late Professor William Duncan will be held at Trinity College Dublin tomorrow.
Professor Duncan passed away at a nursing home in Dublin on 3 August 2025.
He was a member of the law faculty at Trinity for around 30 years before taking up a position with the Hague Conference on Private International Law in 1997.
He is credited with pioneering the development of family law in Ireland, with his research and publications providing the basis for the development of the intellectual and structural framework still governing family law matters today.
He was also a member of the Commission of Investigation into Mother and Baby Homes which reported in 2020.
The memorial service will take place tomorrow, Tuesday 12 August, at 1pm in the Public Theatre at Trinity College Dublin.
