Belfast firm Phoenix Law to represent Daniel Kinahan

Belfast solicitor Darragh Mackin of Phoenix Law is to act as defence solicitor for Daniel Kinahan the Special Criminal Court in Dublin was told on Monday.
A partner in the Belfast firm Mr Mackin has been involved in numerous high-profile cases in recent years acting for Belfast rap trio Kneecap in defence of terrorism charges earlier this year, for the ‘Hooded Men’ and in the JR87 challenge to religious education in Northern Ireland.
Mr Kinahan was extradited from the United Arab Emirates in August and faces charges of directing the activities of a criminal organisation.
The Kinahan Cartel is understood to be the most powerful organised crime organisation in Ireland and rose to international prominence in 2022 when the United States Department of State announced the offering of rewards of up to US$5 million under the Narcotics Rewards Program for information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of Kinahan family members.
