Belfast-based law firm Worthingtons Solicitors has decided to donate its annual Christmas card costs to support social justice charity Extern.

The donation will help Extern deliver support to over 5,000 clients as part of their work with families, homelessness and creating safer communities across Northern Ireland.

Annually Extern provides over 11,000 beds and food to homeless people in its Belfast Centre as well as providing intensive family support to over 2,873 young people and their families. Last year the charity helped 2,264 vulnerable adults in need of their assistance.

Celia Worthington, senior partner, explained: “As a leading Belfast legal firm, we are acutely aware of the difficulties experienced by young people, families and vulnerable adults.

“We support many such cases through our work. Helping Extern to deliver for families and adults here makes perfect sense for us as we know our donation will find its way to support the individuals most in need.

“The fact that Extern never walks away assures us that our support is well placed to help people in need locally.”

Charlie Mack, chief executive at Extern, added: “At Extern we never walk away, and we are delighted that Worthingtons Solicitors have joined us to support our work. Homelessness is a huge issue here in Belfast, indeed across Ireland.

“This very generous donation from Worthingtons will help us continue to support those who turn to Extern for help 365 days a year.”
