William Fry appoints new consultants and managing associates

William Fry has appointed three new consultants and four new managing associates.

The new consultants are Lucy McCurry in the firm’s corporate/M&A department, and Jenny Martin and Ben Conway in the employment and benefits team.

The new managing associates are Adele Hall and Alice O’Connor in litigation and investigations, and Paula Deasy and Stephen Ryan in property.

Their appointments follow the firm’s recent appointment of new partners David O’Shea, Colm Booth and Cian O’Sullivan.

Ms McCurry, the new corporate/M&A consultant, advises on corporate advisory matters, mergers and acquisitions, investment transactions and shareholders’ agreements. She also advises venture funds on investments in technology companies and business founders seeking to raise venture funding.

Her recent caseload has also included a number of clients and transactions in the food and agri-business sectors.

Ms Martin in employment and benefits advises employers in relation to all aspects of employment law, equality law, employee relations and industrial relations. She also has significant experience of reviewing and drafting employment related contracts and policies.

She carries out work for a large number of public sector and private sector organisations and has assisted with all of their employment law issues, both contentious and non-contentious.

Ms Martin regularly appears in cases for clients before all the employment law forums and civil courts in Ireland. She also tutors on the Law Society of Ireland’s postgraduate diploma in employment law.

Mr Conway, also in employment and benefits, has shown exceptional skill in handling employment-related matters, including benefits administration and employee relations.

He focuses on the commercial and corporate aspects of employment law, including due diligence for acquisitions, reorganisations, and outsourcing arrangements. He reviews and drafts employment provisions in commercial agreements, advises on employment-related liabilities, and the transfer of undertakings legislation.

Mr Conway has significant experience in employment litigation, having represented respondents in employment tribunal claims, including government departments and utilities service providers.

Before joining William Fry’s Dublin office in April 2019, he practiced law in the UK, advising on the employment aspects of government-owned companies and IT outsourcing agreements.

Ms Hall, one of the two new managing associates in the litigation and investigations department, manages high-stakes litigation and complex investigations.

She has advised large multinational clients on commercial disputes, financial regulation, regulatory investigations, and defamation claims. She focuses on contentious regulatory matters, advising institutions, directors, and senior managers on compliance. She also provides strategic advice across various sectors, with a keen interest in regulated industries.

She has completed a six-month secondment with an Irish State regulator and continues to be a key advisor on regulatory functions. Additionally, Ms Hall has experience in medical negligence, advising the world’s largest medical indemnifier on litigation, inquests, dispute resolution, and regulation.

Ms O’Connor, the other new managing associate in litigation and investigations, has effectively managed complex legal disputes and offered valuable advice to the firm’s clients.

She holds an honours law degree (BCL) and a Master’s in law (LLM) from University College Cork.

Ms Deasy, in property, specialises in tenant retail leasing, advising Irish, UK, and international brands on agreements for lease, new leases, renewals, and general estate management.

She also handles property acquisitions, sales, large-scale lettings, and asset portfolio management across sectors including commercial, retail, and energy/utilities.

Working closely with other specialist units within the firm, Ms Deasy provides coordinated legal advice on construction, tax, finance, and corporate transactions. She is an active member of William Fry’s energy, renewables, and utilities practice group.

Mr Ryan, also in property, has extensive experience advising on all aspects of property law with an emphasis on commercial property acquisitions, disposals and property based lending.

He has also acted for a number of institutional landlords and tenants on various large- and small-scale lettings throughout Ireland.
