Squire Patton Boggs has hired senior employment lawyer Lisa Shannon to lead and establish its labour and employment practice in Ireland.
Ms Shannon’s work involves acting for a wide range of domestic and international companies with respect to workplace disputes, disciplinary matters, day-to-day compliance, and mergers and acquisitions, with a particular specialism in employment advice for regulated financial services providers.
Her recent work highlights include advising the board of a plc on the running of an investigation into allegations of wrongdoing against its CEO, advising on a no-fault termination and associated severance agreement of the CEO of a plc, and advising multiple clients on redundancies or terminations of individuals holding roles regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland.
Commenting on her appointment, Dennis Agnew, managing partner in Ireland for Squire Patton Boggs, said: “We are delighted to welcome Lisa to the firm.
“Lisa’s arrival forms part of the strategic expansion of our offering in Ireland, where we’ve added real estate, tax and now employment capabilities to augment our cross-border M&A practice and increase the range of specialist advisory services we provide to our multinational client base.”
Alison Treliving, co-chair of the firm’s global labour and employment practice group, added: “Lisa is an ambitious, well-regarded lawyer with excellent client management skills and sought-after regulatory experience.
“With our instructions for multijurisdictional projects having doubled over the past year, Lisa will play an important role in expanding our capabilities across Europe, acting for multinational clients on their most complex and challenging mandates.”
Ms Shannon said: “The firm’s comprehensive global platform, its investment in Ireland and its impressive labour and employment team drew me to Squire Patton Boggs.
“I am excited to get started and look forward to developing the firm’s employment law offering in Ireland.”
Squire Patton Boggs launched its Dublin office in May 2023 and moved into expanded premises in Ella House, Merrion Square in February 2024.
The firm appointed Jason O’Donnell to lead its real estate practice in Ireland in May, and towards the end of last year André Vermeulen joined to establish its tax strategy and benefits practice.
