New European head at Squire Patton Boggs
Andrew Wilkinson
Global law firm Squire Patton Boggs has named London-based lawyer Andrew Wilkinson as its new European managing partner.
Mr Wilkinson will succeed Jonathan Jones in the top post with effect from 1 May 2026.
He has been a partner in the firm’s London office since 2003 and currently serves as European practice group leader for the firm’s intellectual property and technology (IP&T) practice.
He advises UK and international businesses on commercial matters and has particular expertise in technology agreements. He assists clients across various industries, including technology, AI, telecoms, fintech, healthcare, advertising, sports, and hospitality and leisure.
Mark Ruehlmann, chair and global CEO of Squire Patton Boggs, said: “Andrew is a respected leader whose deep understanding of our business and clients will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen our firm and provide expert, sure-footed guidance around the world.
“As part of our senior global management team, he will play a central role in positioning the firm for continued success while ensuring the tightly knit cross border collaboration that is a hallmark of our firm.
“I would also like to express my deep thanks to Jonathan for his energy and commitment as European managing partner. During his tenure, Jonathan has helped oversee year-on-year growth and played a key role in developing our core practices and driving performance across the firm. We are a better firm as a result of his leadership.”
Mr Wilkinson said: “It is an honour to take on this role at such an exciting time of growth for our firm.
“I look forward to collaborating with colleagues around the world to build on our tremendous success and take advantage of the opportunities across our integrated platform to deliver for clients in a rapidly changing world.”
Squire Patton Boggs expanded into Ireland with the opening of its Dublin office in May 2023.
It has expanded in recent months, with Jane O’Grady joining in January to lead its intellectual property and technology practice and Lisa Shannon being recruited in September 2025 to lead and establish its labour and employment practice.
Mr Wilkinson said: “Ireland plays a vital role in our firm’s integrated global offering. Our Dublin office brings together deep local insight with the strength of our international network, enabling us to deliver seamless, high-quality support to clients wherever they do business.
“I look forward to working with our local team to invest in and grow our presence in Ireland as we build on our strong foundation.”
