NI: Madden & Finucane to raise charity cash at Belfast Marathon

Staff at Madden & Finucane Solicitors will run the Belfast Marathon in May to raise cash for a local homelessness charity.

The Belfast firm is appealing for donations in a bid to raise funds for the Welcome Organisation, which delivers a range of support services to people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

The charity says it takes a “non-judgemental approach” based on the principles of harm reduction.

The firm has already begun accepting donations via a JustGiving page ahead of the marathon on Monday 2 May.

Michael Madden, director at Madden & Finucane Solicitors, told Irish Legal News: “A number of our clients have passed away in the past year as a direct result of homelessness and related issues.

“We would represent many vulnerable people who have fallen on hard times and invariably suffer with issues such as mental health or addiction problems.

“The problem in Belfast seems to have rapidly increased in recent times and is much more visibly noticeable on Belfast streets.

“We hope to make a contribution to help the homeless by entering two relay teams in the marathon this year and would greatly appreciate any donations which can be made via our website.”
