Foot Anstey McKees has appointed hospitality and licensing specialist Richard McLaughlin as a legal director in Belfast.
Mr McLaughlin brings more than 25 years’ experience working with clients across the hospitality, leisure and licensing trade including securing the liquor licence for the 153rd Open at Royal Portrush last summer and acting for hospitality businesses operating some of Northern Ireland’s most recognisable venues.
He advises on a wide range of matters including site openings, licensing applications, acquisitions and disposals, enforcement issues and ongoing operational advice.
His experience spans both independent operators and larger portfolio clients with a particular focus on supporting businesses through periods of growth, change and consolidation.
Mr McLaughlin joins the firm’s hospitality and leisure division, working alongside fellow legal directors Linus Murray and Andrea McCann.
Chris Ross, partner and head of Belfast office, said: “We are delighted to welcome Richard McLaughlin as a legal director at Foot Anstey McKees.
“He has a strong reputation as a specialist licensing adviser within Northern Ireland’s hospitality industry, and his appointment further strengthens our hospitality offering, which has experienced significant growth over the past 12 months and supports our ambitious strategy to continue increasing our market share in this sector.

Mr McLaughlin added: “Foot Anstey McKees has a strong reputation as a leading law firm, and I’m proud to be joining its highly respected hospitality team during a period of continued growth.
“The firm’s ambition, collaborative culture and commitment to investing in talent are clear, and I look forward to working with colleagues across the business to further strengthen and develop our hospitality and licensing offering whilst delivering a first-class service to all our clients.”
