Legal regulator investigated staff member over sexual messages

The Legal Services Regulatory Authority (LSRA) has reportedly taken action after a staff member allegedly sent sexually-charged text messages to a woman who used its services.
The Irish Independent today published a number of the text messages the woman said she had received from an LSRA employee several months after using the LSRA’s services.
In a statement, the LSRA told the newspaper: “In November 2024, the LSRA received a complaint from a member of the public about a member of staff of the LSRA.
“The LSRA immediately arranged for an independent investigation to be carried out by an independent HR investigator in line with the appropriate procedures.
“The LSRA acted on the independent expert’s recommendations and all parties were informed of the outcome within a matter of weeks.
“The LSRA promptly took appropriate measures to deal with the complaint, including fulfilling its data protection obligations by reporting to the Data Protection Commissioner and engaging with its office.
“The LSRA keeps under review its staff protocols to ensure that it continues to fully meet its data protection obligations and has taken a range of proactive measures in this regard.
“The LSRA complies at all times with its obligations under the Civil Service Code of Standards and Behaviour.”
