Legal Aid Board brings together staff for two-day event

The Legal Aid Board welcomed senior legal figures including the attorney general, the justice minister and the chief justice to a two-day staff event in Dublin.

Centred on the theme of connection, the event at the Gibson Hotel brought together colleagues from all of the Board’s 44 offices.

The event included keynote contributions from Rossa Fanning SC, Jim O’Callaghan and Mr Justice Donal O’Donnell.

Over two days, staff participated in practical workshops, CPD sessions, and management panels to support professional networks and strengthen internal networks.

It coincided with the launch of the Legal Aid Board’s new refreshed website, which puts a renewed focus on client needs, accessibility and plain English.

Joan Crawford, CEO of the Legal Aid Board, said: “This is a moment of pride and reflection for us as an organisation. Our staff are at the heart of the Legal Aid Board.

“The work we do changes lives. This event is a moment to celebrate them, to build new bridges between services and people, and to look to the future — with renewed energy, a refreshed website, and a stronger sense of unity that ever before.”

Mr O’Callaghan added: “The Legal Aid Board plays a vital role in ensuring access to justice and its work makes a hugely positive difference to thousands of people every year.

“I look forward to my Department’s continued partnership with the Board on ongoing reforms to deliver modern and user-focused supports and services — particularly in the areas of family justice, mediation and civil legal aid.”
