The Law Society of Ireland has invited the legal profession to register for the 2026 Calcutta Run.

Since 1999, the Calcutta Run has raised €5.9 million in support of homelessness services in Ireland and Kolkata, India. Over 1,000 participants ran or walked in Calcutta Run in Dublin in 2025.

The annual legal fundraiser, in aid of partner charities Dublin Simon Community and The Hope Foundation, was officially launched at an event held at A&L Goodbody late last month.

This year’s Calcutta Run, supported by official event partner, Arachas, takes place on Saturday 23 May 2026, with satellite events taking place in Cork on Saturday 23 May and Galway on Sunday 24 May. The popular Law Debenture Golf Classic, Tennis Tournament and Rogers Recruitment Tag Rugby also return this year.

Other generous sponsors of the Calcutta Run 2026 include Behan & Associates, Independent College, Kefron, Perpetua Fitness, Anataris, nofrixion, Stryve, The Panel, and Marketing Clever.

Rosemarie Loftus, president of the Law Society, said: “The Calcutta Run is the flagship charity event for the legal sector. We are proud to support our two fantastic partner charities, Dublin Simon Community and The Hope Foundation.

“By coming together as we have done for the last 25 years and more, we are able to continue to support charities that provide crucial services, including much needed housing, education, medical and essential services to vulnerable communities, both in Ireland and in Kolkata.

“It is a unique event bringing all branches of the legal profession together for a worthy reason - it is a great cause, with a great outcome, for the betterment of others of great need.”

Julie Galbraith, chief business officer and general counsel at Arachas, said: “As Ireland’s largest nationwide insurance broker and leading provider of solicitors’ professional indemnity insurance, Arachas is proud to be title sponsor of the Calcutta Run.

“Alongside the Law Society of Ireland, and the many solicitors and legal practitioners who get involved with the run, we are committed to giving back to worthy charities, including the Dublin Simon Community and the Hope Foundation.

“We are limbering up for the Run by holding ‘Arachas Fittest Firm’ on 6 May. We hope you and your colleagues can join us for an evening of fun challenges with Sonia O’Sullivan, Seán Óg Ó hAilpín, Patrick McBrearty and a number of special guests. Look out for our invite to sign up or get in touch with our Arachas team.”

Members of the legal profession, their families and friends are invited to register and fundraise together by running or walking the 5km and 10km routes starting and finishing at the Law Society, Blackhall Place via the scenic Phoenix Park.
