Ahead of Calcutta Run on Saturday, Justice minister Jim O’Callaghan has lent his support for the largest charity event in the legal calendar. The Law Society is encouraging everyone in the legal profession to join over 1,100 colleagues who have already registered for Calcutta Run.
The annual legal fundraiser supports two charities working on the frontlines of homelessness in Dublin and Kolkata, India - Dublin Simon Community and The Hope Foundation.
Calcutta Run, kindly supported by Official Event Partner Arachas, takes place on Saturday 23 May 2026. Other generous sponsors of the Calcutta Run 2026 include Behan & Associates, Independent College, Kefron, Antaris, NoFrixion, Stryve, The Panel, Truehawk Media, and Marketing Clever.
President of the Law Society, Rosemarie Loftus, said: “The Calcutta Run is the legal sector’s flagship charity event, proudly supporting our partner charities, Dublin Simon Community and The Hope Foundation.
“For over 25 years, the event has united the legal profession to fund vital housing, education, medical, and support services for vulnerable communities in Ireland and Kolkata.
“It is a unique opportunity for the legal community to come together for a meaningful cause and make a lasting difference.”
Olympian, world champion, and Team Arachas Ambassador, Sonia O’Sullivan, said: “It’s great to be running alongside Arachas in this year’s Calcutta Run. The event has become a real highlight for the legal community and the impact it has for the Dublin Simon Community and the Hope Foundation is something everyone taking part can be so proud of. I’m delighted to be involved and to help shine a light on the great work these charities do.”
Members of the legal profession, their families and friends are invited to register and fundraise together by running or walking the 6km and 10km routes starting and finishing at the Law Society, Blackhall Place via the scenic Phoenix Park. The event promises to be a fun day of reuniting with friends and colleagues in aid of worthy charities.
