Global law firm Kennedys has promoted five lawyers in Belfast and three in Dublin as part of a global promotions round.

Insurance lawyers Barnabus Shearer and Alexander Redpath have been promoted to legal director in Belfast.

Adam McGahan, Emma Falloon and Darren Thompson — also Belfast-based insurance lawyers — have been promoted to senior associate.

In Dublin, liability defence lawyers Diarmaid Harnett and Ed Stafford, along with insurance lawyer Steve Colgan, have been promoted to senior associate.

Across the firm’s global offices, Kennedys has elevated 31 senior associates to legal director (or ‘of counsel’ or ‘special counsel’ in some jurisdictions) and 45 to senior associate.

This follows 21 partner promotions earlier this year, the firm’s largest cohort since 2022, marking a sixth consecutive year of double-digit partner promotions.

Meg Catalano, Kennedys’ global managing partner, said: “I would like to both congratulate and thank those promoted for their talent, dedication and commitment to our clients. I wish them every success in their new roles, and look forward to seeing their careers go from strength to strength.

“This global cohort showcases the exceptional quality of our international bench strength, with our people firmly at the heart of our continued growth.”

Kennedys recently reported record revenue of £428 million (around €511m) for the 2024/25 financial year.

Senior partner John Bruce said: “We will continue to build an ambitious, sustainable and high-performance culture at Kennedys in which career progression is both visible and attainable.

“These promotions reflect our ongoing investment in our people and our commitment to providing the opportunities and recognition they deserve.”
