Judge Suzanne Kingston

Judge Suzanne Kingston has been elected as president of one of the 10 chambers of the General Court of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU).

The Irish judge, who has sat on the EU bench since 2021, now presides over the Ninth Chamber, which comprises judges Maria José Costeira, Tihamér Tóth, Beatrix Ricziová and Louise Spangsberg Grønfeldt.

The other Irish judge, Colm Mac Eochaidh, is a member of the Fourth Chamber, presided over by Judge Geert De Baere.

The General Court is comprised of 10 chambers, seven of which are responsible for cases relating to intellectual property law and three of which are responsible for cases relating to the civil service.

The two chambers responsible for requests for a preliminary ruling form part of the seven chambers responsible for cases relating to intellectual property rights.
