Applications must be received by 11.59pm on 30 August 2026 and the Board is encouraging potential applicants not to leave their application until the final days, allowing sufficient time to gather supporting information and complete the process.

The scheme provides recognition and financial support to people who suffered permanent physical or psychological injury as a result of a Troubles-related incident.

Speaking ahead of August closing date, Hon Justice McAlinden, president of the Victims’ Payment Board commented: “With just a few weeks left before the Scheme closes to new applications, I would strongly encourage anyone who believes they may be eligible to apply to the Scheme to submit an application as soon as possible and in advance of the closing date of 11.59pm on 30 August 2026.

“No applications can be accepted after this time. Should an applicant make an application after this date, the president has a discretion to consider late applications where there has been a material change in circumstances or having regard to exceptional circumstances, it would be equitable to allow an application to be made.

“The clear message remains that anyone who wishes to apply should do so before 11.59pm on 30 August 2026.”
