Dara Robinson appointed chair of Fair Trials

Irish lawyer Dara Robinson SC has been appointed as chair of Fair Trials, the only international NGO that campaigns exclusively for the right to a fair trial.
Mr Robinson is a senior Irish solicitor and legal leader with a long-standing career in criminal law, including landmark work representing vulnerable and neurodivergent individuals, as well as people with mental health conditions, including cases before the European Court of Human Rights.
He was one of the first solicitors to be appointed as senior counsel in Ireland, reflecting his leadership in human rights-focused legal practice, as well as his ongoing influence in legal policy, education, and public discourse.
Mr Robinson has been a member Fair Trials’ Legal Experts Advisory Panel (LEAP) – the largest network of criminal law experts in Europe – since its inception in 2006, contributing to its development and shaping its work as a member of its advisory board.
Through LEAP, he has contributed to developments in European criminal law and information policy, particularly by advancing defence lawyers’ perspectives.
Since April 2025, Mr Robinson has served as a trustee of Fair Trials and has held the role of chair since January 2026.
