NI: Conference to discuss investigation of suspicious deaths

The Franco-British Lawyers Society will host a colloquium called Investigating Suspicious Deaths: Inquests and Inquiries in the Inn of Court in Northern Ireland on 27 November 2015.

The conference will be opened by the Lord Chief Justice of Northern Ireland and its speakers and chairs will include:

  • The Attorney General for Northern Ireland

  • John Leckey, Senior Coroner for Northern Ireland

  • Olivier de Paris, President, Cour d’appel de Douai

  • Professor Phil Scraton, Queen’s University Belfast and member of the Hillsborough Independent Panel

  • Lesley Thompson Q.C., Solicitor General for Scotland

  • Elisabeth Pelsez, Liaison Judge to the French Ambassador to the UK

    • The conference runs from 10am–4pm and will be followed by a gala dinner at Long Gallery, Stormont.

    The event is being sponsored by the Bar of Northern Ireland, the Law Society of Northern Ireland, AXA and Queen’s University Belfast.
