Colin Harvey appointed vice-chair of the EU Fundamental Rights Agency scientific committee
Professor Colin Harvey
Queen’s University human rights law professor Colin Harvey has been appointed vice-chair of the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights scientific committee.
Professor Harvey is a fellow of the Queen’s Institute for Peace, Security and Justice, an associate fellow of the Institute of Irish Studies, Queen’s University Belfast and a fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He has served at Queen’s as head of the Law School, director of the Human Rights Centre, a member of Senate, and as a director of Research.
Professor Harvey was appointed to the Council of State by the President of Ireland in March 2026 and is also a commissioner on the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission.
The scientific committee act as guarantors of the scientific quality of the Fundamental Rights Agency’s work. Members serve for a term of 5 years, the chairperson and vice-chairperson serve for one year.
