Carson McDowell partner Cathal O’Neill has been re-elected as Northern Ireland chair of the Forum of Insurance Lawyers (FOIL).

Mr O’Neill is co-head of the defence insurance litigation team at Carson McDowell, which he joined in 2017.

He specialises in the defence of employer’s liability and public liability claims north and south of the bodrer, with expertise in all industrial disease claims, policy disputes, defending fraudulent claims and recovery actions.

FOIL is the representative voice of the defendant insurance lawyer community, which advances a reforming agenda for a more transparent and proportionate claims environment that benefits claimants and insurers alike.

In a statement, Carson McDowell said: “We are proud to share that Cathal O’Neill, Partner and Co-Head of our Defence Insurance Litigation team, has been elected for a second term as Chair of the Forum of Insurance Lawyers in NI (FOIL).

“Cathal is looking forward to continuing to work on projects from last term, while also engaging with upcoming issues in the market, such as the consultation response to the review of the personal injury discount rate in NI.”
