Belfast solicitors raise £800 at charity quiz night

The Belfast Solicitors’ Association (BSA) has raised over £800 for its charity partner, the WAVE Trauma Centre, at its annual charity quiz night.

Over 100 people took part in the event at The Dark Horse on 12 March 2026, with the team “Lion Sleeps Tonight” led by former BSA chair Paul Moylan claiming victory.

The coveted wooden spoon went to “No Eye Dear” – with the BSA appropriately in the dark about who exactly was on this team.

“Thanks to the enthusiasm and generosity of participants and sponsors, the evening successfully raised approximately £800 to support WAVE’s vital services,” chair John O’Kelly told Irish Legal News.

Gráinne McKenna from WAVE Trauma Centre addressed attendees and later joined the HHDivas team for the quiz.

“The BSA wishes to pay particular tribute to the invaluable organising efforts of committee members Sophie McClintock, Shannon Gawley and Owen Williamson, whose hard work and attention to detail ensured the smooth running and success of the event,” Mr O’Kelly said.

“Special thanks are also due to quizmaster Chris Kinney, who kept the evening entertaining, challenging, and expertly paced throughout.”

This year’s quiz was sponsored by ACHuman, with additional prizes donated by Harbinson Mulholland, McCann & McCann Solicitors, HHD Solicitors, Phoenix Law and Crossin Opticians.

Mr O’Kelly said: “The BSA extends sincere thanks to everyone who attended, donated, or supported the event in any capacity.

“The combination of great company, spirited competition, and community generosity made for a memorable evening in aid of a truly deserving cause.”
