The Belfast Solicitors’ Association (BSA) has named WAVE Trauma Centre as its charity partner for 2026.
WAVE Trauma Centre is a leading Northern Ireland charity providing care and support to individuals and families bereaved, injured or traumatised as a result of the Troubles.
In addition to this work, WAVE offers dedicated support to survivors of historical institutional abuse and delivers specialist trauma training to organisations and professionals across a range of sectors.
Through its regional centres, WAVE provides counselling, advocacy, training, welfare support and a range of therapeutic services designed to assist individuals on their recovery journey.
Throughout 2026, the BSA will support WAVE Trauma Centre through a programme of fundraising initiatives, awareness campaigns and events involving members of the local legal profession.
The partnership reflects the association’s ongoing commitment to supporting organisations that make a meaningful difference within the community.
John O’Kelly, BSA chair for the coming year, said: “The work carried out by WAVE Trauma Centre in supporting individuals and families affected by trauma is vital.
“Their commitment not only to those bereaved or injured as a result of the Troubles, but also to survivors of historical institutional abuse, demonstrates the breadth and depth of their impact.
“As solicitors, we see first-hand the long-term consequences of trauma and my colleagues and I have been fortunate to benefit from the Trauma focused training which WAVE provides.
“Our members are proud to stand alongside WAVE in 2026, helping to raise both funds and awareness to support the continuation of their essential services.”
The BSA said it “looks forward to engaging its members, colleagues at the Bar, and the wider legal community in supporting this important cause over the coming year”.
Further details of fundraising events and initiatives will be announced throughout the year.
