Over 50 solicitors attended a special conference at Law Society House in Belfast this week to mark European Lawyers Day 2017.

Now in its third year, the conference hosted by the Law Society of Northern Ireland highlights the local legal profession’s significant contribution to the rule of law and justice system throughout Europe.

The Society has been working in conjunction with other members of Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe (CCBE) to promote this year’s theme, ‘E-volving Lawyers; How digital transformation can enrich the relationship between the citizen and the lawyer’.

Conference delegates heard from a number of keynote speakers, including Ian Huddleston, president of the Law Society, and Stephen Beattie and Andrew Bennett from Allen & Overy LLP.

Speaking after the conference, Mr Huddleston said: “We are delighted to have welcomed so many colleagues to this important conference marking European Lawyers Day and to have provided a platform to examine issues of importance affecting lawyers and their clients throughout Europe and further afield.”
