And finally… penalty clause

An Egyptian lawyer has launched a €1 billion lawsuit against FIFA, alleging that Sergio Ramos caused “psychological harm” to the Egyptian people when he tackled Mo Salah at the weekend.

Bassem Wahba alleges that Ramos (Real Madrid) deliberately injured Salah (Liverpool) during the Champions League final on Saturday.

Shoulder ligament damage sustained by Salah in the clash could prevent him from playing for Egypt in the upcoming World Cup.

Mr Wahba told Egyptian TV channel Sada El-Balad: “Ramos intentionally injured Mo Salah and should be punished about his actions. I’ve filed a lawsuit and a complaint to FIFA.

“I’ll ask for compensation, which could exceed €1 billion, for the physical and psychological harm that Ramos gave Salah and the Egyptian people.”
