And finally…three’s company
Throples, foursomes and those in polyamorous relationships will be able to register their partnerships in West Hollywood, California following a City Council vote on 3 November.
Registration will grant multiple partners certain rights such as hospital visitation and tenant protections but does not provide the same rights as married couples.
To qualify applicants must be three or more adults in a committed, consensual relationship who share responsibility for one another’s welfare and meet the ordinance’s other eligibility requirements. They must be at least 18 years of age and capable of entering into a contract. They must not be involved in another registered multi-partner relationship.
Christina Fialho, attorney and founder of the bisexual media representation advocacy group Rewrite the BiLine, who first proposed the idea of polyamory protections in West Hollywood, told the New York Post that “this law is just the beginning”.
