Fiosrú, the Office of the Police Ombudsman is the independent policing oversight body for Ireland.

Fiosrú is a new organisation which has been created with the commencement of the Policing, Security and Community Safety Act 2024 implementing the recommendations of the Commission on the Future of Policing.

The organisation has assumed the statutory responsibility of receiving complaints from members of the public concerning members of garda personnel, a role previously undertaken by the Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission (GSOC).

Fiosrú’s objective is to ensure that complaints about Gardaí are examined in a way that is both transparent and equitable, and which increases public confidence in police oversight.
