Senior Legal Advisor
The Corporate Enforcement Authority (CEA) is inviting applications for the role of Senior Legal Advisor, and to form a two-year panel from which future vacancies may be filled. This is a great opportunity to join Ireland’s specialist company law enforcement agency at a pivotal time for corporate regulation and compliance.
The CEA plays a vital role in safeguarding the public interest by promoting compliance with company law, investigating suspected breaches, and taking decisive enforcement action where required. Our work underpins confidence in Ireland’s corporate framework and contributes directly to the integrity of the business environment.
About The Role
As a Senior Legal Advisor, you will work at the heart of this mission. This is a senior, high-impact role offering exposure to a broad and complex portfolio spanning company law, civil and criminal enforcement, and public law. You will provide strategic legal advice across the Authority’s functions, support and manage litigation, and collaborate closely with multidisciplinary internal teams and external legal service providers.
The role encompasses a wide range of matters, including regulatory investigations, enforcement proceedings, and complex civil litigation. You will advise on District Court enforcement actions, support the preparation of cases for the Circuit Court, and manage proceedings such as director restriction and disqualification, judicial review, and applications to appoint inspectors. The post also involves advising on related areas including administrative and EU law, data protection, freedom of information, and public procurement.
While legally focused, the role also calls for sound judgment, strong risk awareness, and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment. Senior Legal Advisors contribute to knowledge management, support the development of case management systems, and provide leadership and guidance to junior colleagues.
The ideal candidate will be a qualified Solicitor or Barrister with a minimum of three years’ relevant post-qualification experience, strong expertise in company, civil, or criminal law, and experience in regulatory, enforcement, or public law matters. Excellent analytical, communication, and organisational skills, together with a commitment to public service, are essential.
This position offers a unique chance to do meaningful, nationally significant legal work and to play a key role in advancing the CEA’s mission.
How to Apply
Completed application forms must be submitted here no later than 3.00pm (Irish time) on Wednesday, 18 February 2026. Applications submitted after the closing date, by other means, or in CV format will not be considered.
