Contract: Temporary (expected 9-12 months)
The Corporate Enforcement Authority (CEA) is seeking an experienced and commercially astute legal leader to join its senior management team as Director of Legal & Policy. Reporting to a Member of the Authority, this is a high-impact role at the centre of Ireland’s corporate enforcement framework.
This position will suit a senior barrister or solicitor who is motivated by public interest work and ready to lead complex enforcement, litigation and advisory activity within a modern regulatory environment.
The Role
You will provide strategic legal advice across a wide range of areas including company, criminal, civil, administrative and regulatory law. You will lead on investigations and enforcement actions, shape litigation strategy (civil and criminal), and support prosecutions, including engagement with the Director of Public Prosecutions.
You will also oversee civil proceedings such as judicial review and restriction/ disqualification cases, contribute to legislative development, and manage external legal advisors. Alongside this, you will play a key leadership role—developing a high-performing legal team, contributing to organisational strategy, and ensuring strong governance and risk management practices.
About You
You are a qualified barrister or solicitor in Ireland with a minimum of 5 years’ post-qualification experience at a senior level. You are comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, handling complex legal matters and large volumes of information. You demonstrate sound judgement, clear decision-making, and the ability to lead and influence at senior level. A strong understanding of public sector responsibilities and a commitment to the public interest are essential.
