ICEL’s Annual Privacy and Data Protection Law Conference
The Irish Centre for European Law’s (ICEL) Annual Privacy and Data Protection Law Conference returns this year on Friday, 15 May 2026 from 2-5pm in Chartered Accountants House, 47-49 Pearse Street, Dublin 2 and streamed live online.
The first panel will discuss “Ten Years of GDPR: Reflections, Insights and Lessons”. The second panel will discuss “Relevant and Recent GDPR Developments”.
The conference will feature leading Irish and international speakers including:
(i) Helen Dixon who is a Global Digital Regulatory Consultant and the former Commissioner of both the Data Protection Commission and Commission for Communications Regulation. Ms Dixon has unrivalled regulatory insight into the evolving oversight of digital platforms and technology and data governance.
(ii) Professor Herke Kranenborg who is a professor in European Data Protection and Privacy Law at Maastricht University. Mr Kranenborg is also a member of the Legal Service of the European Commission working in the area of privacy and data protection.
(iii) Paul McDonagh-Forde is the Irish Data Protection Commission’s Brussels-based Attaché. He leads the DPC’s interactions in Brussels with a wide variety of organisations, including the European Commission, the European Data Protection Board and the European Parliament, as well as civil society organisations and regulated entities that have a presence in Brussels.
(iv) Catherine Donnelly SC is a barrister practising from the Law Library, Dublin. Ms Donnelly became a senior counsel in 2020 and practises in company law, data protection law, human rights, public procurement, regulatory law, constitutional law, EU law and competition law.
(v) Davinia Brennan is a Partner in the Technology and Innovation Group at Matheson LLP, Dublin. Davinia specialises in data protection and privacy, cybersecurity, technology and artificial intelligence laws.
(vi) David Fennelly SC, is a barrister practising from the Law Library, Dublin. Mr Fennelly specialises in public law and became a senior counsel in 2024. Mr Fennelly also lectures in the School of Law, Trinity College Dublin.
This will be a hybrid conference with tickets for ICEL members €95 for in-person attendance or €45 for online attendance. For non-members, tickets are €145 for in-person attendance or €95 for online attendance.
