Save the date: young lawyers to gather in Belfast for Franco-British conference

The Young Lawyer in the Third Millennium will take place from 15–17 October 2026 and is expected to be the largest legal gathering ever held in Northern Ireland.

The programme will examine a range of issues affecting the next generation of lawyers, including artificial intelligence, cybercrime, advocacy, legal careers, mooting, mentoring, pupillage, continuing professional development and lawyers’ duties to the court, clients, society and colleagues. An AI-themed moot court competition will also form part of the conference.

Organised by the Franco-British Lawyers’ Society, the event aims to provide learning, networking and career development opportunities for law students, trainee barristers, trainee solicitors and newly qualified practitioners. Up to five hours of CPD will be available.

The conference has secured support from a number of legal and institutional organisations, including Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer, A&O Shearman, O’Reilly Stewart Solicitors, Donnelly & Wall Solicitors, DWF, the Law Society of Northern Ireland, the Bar of Northern Ireland, Ulster University, Tourism Northern Ireland and Belfast City Council.
