Now in its fourth year, the annual bursary honours the memory of late Matheson partner Tim Scanlon and is delivered as part of Matheson’s impactful business programme. It is open to undergraduate and postgraduate law students.

The call for entries launched earlier this year and asked for applicants to submit an essay focused on: “The impact of Brexit on corporate regulation in Ireland — discuss how Ireland’s corporate regulatory landscape has been affected by the UK’s departure from the EU.”

Ms Grattan, a third-year Law with Irish student at University College Dublin (UCD), has been awarded this year’s bursary.

Her “insightful and well-researched entry demonstrated a clear understanding of the relevant issues and the impact of Brexit on Irish businesses”, the firm said.

Ms Grattan has secured a place on Matheson’s summer internship programme, a €5,000 bursary and, in appreciation of Tim Scanlon’s love for the arts, a piece of art by Irish artist Niamh Flanagan.
