NI: South African judge to address Belfast conference

A renowned judge of the Constitutional Court of South Africa will address a major conference on public litigation in Belfast this summer.

Mr Edwin Cameron is widely recognised for his HIV/AIDS and gay rights activism, and has received many awards — including from The Bar of England and Wales — for his contribution to international jurisprudence and human rights.

The judge will speak at The PILS Project’s conference, headlined “Strong Impacts: Public Interest Litigation in action” at Belfast’s Hilton Hotel on Thursday 7 June, 9am-1pm.

The conference will also include a panel discussion with contributions from Ciaran Mac Giolla Bhein of Conradh na Gaeilge; Sarah Corrigan of Housing Rights; and solicitor advocate Ciarán Moynagh, partner at McLernon Moynagh Solicitors.

Attendance is free, but a place must be reserved by contacting dervla@pilsni.org or 028 90994258 by Thursday 26 April.
