Solicitors Eamon Keane and Tony Convery have written a proposal detailing why complainants (or “complainers” in Scotland) should be entitled to independent legal representation in certain circumstances, our sister publication Scottish Legal News reports.

They said they “gained a valuable insight into how our proposal might work in practice through time spent in Ireland speaking to various stakeholders where a right, similar to the one that we propose, already exists in relation to the offence of rape”.

The pair received financial assistance from Rape Crisis Scotland to travel to Ireland for their research.
