Roman Shortall launches new law firm

Roman Shortall

Solicitor and former investigative journalist Roman Shortall has established a new firm, Shortall Law.

Mr Shortall, who practises in public and regulator law, previously worked as an investigative journalist with The Ditch, which he co-founded.

He received the 2023 Law Society of Ireland Justice Media Award for Newcomer of the Year for uncovering systemic governance failures and unlawful decision-making at An Bord Pleanála.

Before working in journalism, he was a legal executive specialising in administrative law.

The firm says Mr Shortall’s 15-year career in public law and media informs his approach to institutional power.

Shortall Law will focus on advising individuals, businesses and non-profits affected by policies and decisions of public bodies.

It will act in judicial review proceedings involving national and EU law, disputes with regulators and professional bodies, and challenges to refusals of regulatory authorisations.
