Pinsent Masons recognised for LGBT+ inclusion and advocacy

Pinsent Masons’ Belfast office has been recognised for its commitment to LGBTQIA+ inclusion and advocacy.

The commercial law firm has been formally recognised with Belfast Pride’s Business Ally of the Year award, as well as being accredited as a Gold Employer by the UK’s leading LGBTQIA+ charity, Stonewall.

Colleagues at the firm last month marched with the Law Society of Northern Ireland and other firms at Belfast’s annual Pride Parade.

The Belfast office also hosted a Pride coffee morning, attended by other law firms and local businesses.

Andrea McIlroy-Rose, head of Pinsent Masons’ Belfast office and global co-team leader for development and investment, welcomed the recognition from Belfast Pride and Stonewall.

“This double recognition highlights our on-going dedication to foster a safe, supportive, and empowering workplace for every one of our employees in Northern Ireland, irrespective of sexual orientation or gender identity,” she said.

“These awards are a reflection of the values that guide us daily and we continue to remain committed to championing equality and belonging in everything that we do.”

In recent years, Pinsent Masons has progressed its support for LGBTQIA+ employees by providing specific guidance and support for transgender people transitioning at work and refreshed its diversity and inclusion training for colleagues right across its multinational business.

Lynn Millar, Belfast Pride’s interim co-chair, said: “The unwavering support from the team at Pinsent Masons Belfast continues to set a powerful example of allyship in action.

“Their commitment to creating an inclusive workplace for LGBTQIA+ colleagues and their active engagement with the wider community across Belfast and Northern Ireland is nothing short of inspiring.

“Being awarded Ally of the Year at the 2025 Belfast Pride Awards is a well-deserved recognition of their leadership, compassion, and dedication to equality.

“We are proud to stand alongside them as we continue to champion visibility, dignity, and pride for all.”
