Corporate law firm Philip Lee has signed up to an electric cargo bike scheme allowing staff to try out a more climate-friendly way to commute.

Under the pilot scheme, run by Dublin City Council in partnership with bike sharing operator Bleeper, the firm will trial pedal-assist “e-cargobikes” for six months.

The bikes have a cargo carrying capacity of 60kg, with a battery which can last for up to 160km and can be fully recharged in six hours. E-bikes offer energy efficient transportation which also has physical and health benefits.

Partner Philip Lee said: “We are delighted to take part in this new initiative. We recognise climate change is one of the biggest challenges facing society and change must happen. This is one small change.

“We are always looking for ways to be more sustainable and here was an opportunity to change our over-reliance on car journeys and fossil fuels.

“Colleagues are looking forward to using this electric e-cargo bike to take documents to court and for errands around Dublin city. It is innovative step towards reducing our carbon footprint.”
