Tughans advises Blue Zinc shareholders on sale to ClearCourse

Tughans has advised the shareholders of healthcare software provider Blue Zinc on its acquisition by ClearCourse, a group of innovative technology brands providing software solutions and an integrated payments platform.

Blue Zinc provides innovative solutions for the management of patient referrals, clinical pathways, and clinics for the physical (physiotherapy and wider musculoskeletal) and mental health segments in the healthcare sector.

The company will form part of ClearCourse’s business services division and expands the latter’s growing footprint in the healthcare space.

Tughans’ cross-departmental M&A team was led by partner and head of corporate, James Donnelly, with support from corporate director Ben Sims, corporate associate Tiarnan McKenna and employment partner Patricia Rooney.

Mr Donnelly said: “We really enjoyed working with co-founders Ronnie Johnston and Kyle Lunn on this deal, which will enable Blue Zinc to enter a new ambitious and exciting phase as it continues to grow in the health tech space. We have acted for Blue Zinc for many years and this deal represents another success story for the local tech market.”

Carson McDowell advises Galetech on acquisition of Precision Gear Company

Carson McDowell has advised Cavan-based renewable energy advisory firm Galetech on its acquisition of Co Antrim’s Precision Gear Company in a move that is set to extend the life of its current turbine fleet.

Precision Gear Company, based in Toomebridge, specialises in the international collection, maintenance and refurbishment of gearboxes.

The company, which was previously owned by Macrete Ireland, will continue to serve its clients in the European and UK wind, rail, marine and mining sectors via a newly formed company Optigear.

It will also work closely with another of Galetech’s companies, Optinergy which offers operation and maintenance services to the renewable industry.

The Carson McDowell team included senior associate Rosie Timoney, associate Rachel Lewis, solicitors Andrew McWilliams and Josh Hunter, and trainee Clara Eccles.

Millar McCall Wylie acts for Traction Finance on sale to Radius

Millar McCall Wylie (MMW) has acted for the owners of Belfast-based Traction Finance in the sale of a majority stake in the group to Radius.

Traction offers financing solutions to a wide variety of fleet customers across the UK and Ireland, including contract hire, rental, hire purchase and the sale of new and used vehicles from single user customers up to fleets of a hundred or more.

The MMW team was led by corporate lawyers Damian McParland and Louise Cavanagh, assisted by property lawyer Michael Wilson and employment lawyers David Mitchell and Niamh McMonagle.
