MKB Law has become the first law firm in Northern Ireland to achieve the 2022 GDPR certification for law firms from Briefed.

Briefed has created bespoke GDPR training for law firms, meeting all ICO standards, which allows firms to annually certify directors, associates, support staff and trainees at the start of each year.

Jonathan Jackson, director and data protection officer at MKB Law, said: “Briefed has supported MKB Law now for several years with excellent, practical data security training. The training, designed by their specialist team of barristers, is easy to follow, user friendly and includes case studies relating to the day-to-day practices of a law firm.”

In addition to staff training, MKB Law has implemented a number of practices and processes to further enhance its data protection, including a move to a paperless office in 2019 and a significant investment in its IT and communications systems.

Alicia McCrory, specialist compliance barrister at Briefed, said: “MKB Law prioritises its clients’ data security. It understands that the opportunity for things to go wrong, from a data perspective, exists every single day, and that the consequences can be catastrophic.”
