Belfast-based MKB Law has appointed Kelly Shaw as its new head of family law, succeeding director Anne Marie Kelly who has retired.

Ms Kelly, who qualified in 1985 and co-founded MKB Law in 2003 with Gordon McElroy, will continue to support the firm in a consultancy role.

Ms Shaw brings to the role over two decades of experience, including 15 years running a successful solo practice in Hillsborough, Co Down.

She is widely regarded for her expertise in complex divorce and ancillary relief matters. As a collaboratively trained solicitor, she is committed to helping clients reach practical and amicable outcomes.

Congratulating Ms Shaw on her appointment, Ms Kelly said: “Kelly has that rare combination of legal insight, strategic thinking and real-world experience that our clients value so highly.

“I’m proud to hand over the reins to someone who understands not only the legal landscape but the human side of what we do. The department is in very safe hands.”

Ms Kelly added: “It’s an honour to step into this role and continue the legacy that Anne Marie has built.

“Having honed my skills over many years, I’m committed to providing clear, considerate and timely advice.

“I look forward to working with my colleagues across the firm’s private client, property and corporate teams to ensure clients benefit from a fully integrated service.”
