Belfast firm Millar McCall Wylie has welcomed two recently-qualified solicitors and two new trainees as part of a continued commitment to supporting new legal talent despite economic uncertainty.

Newly-qualified solicitors Hayley Cummings and Ross White have joined the firm’s corporate law team and private client department respectively.

Meanwhile, trainees Paul Delahunt and Matthew Kernohan have joined the family and matrimonial department and litigation team respectively.

The firm is also continuing to train Niamh McMonagle in the employment law department and Ross Carrigan in the residential conveyancing department.

Director Conor Wylie said: “Encouraging and supporting people coming into the legal sector has always been important to our firm. However, the uncertainty of 2020 has made us even more committed to making sure we offer opportunities for career development.

“Indeed, for us, supporting new talent is more crucial than ever. We don’t want to see the enthusiasm and focus demonstrated by so many who have chosen law as their intended career path go to waste. Now is a time for us to harness that ambition and invest in the future not only of our firm but of the careers of tomorrow’s leading lawyers.”

Ms Cummings said: “I graduated from Queens University Belfast two years ago, then trained with Millar McCall Wylie and, having recently qualified, am delighted to have been appointed permanently within the firm’s corporate law team.

“I’ve been learning every single day and am now starting a career with the firm having built a solid foundation with the people and clients within it. It is encouraging to see further trainees joining, particularly in 2020 when a lot of people are facing uncertainty.”

Mr White added: “Joining an extremely busy team has given me the chance to specialise in new areas and develop my skills amongst some of Northern Ireland’s most experienced lawyers. Joining Millar McCall Wylie this year has been an exciting development for me at an early stage of my career.”
